Chester
11 June 2016 – Saturday
Still having some jet lag, I got up late today. It started to pour down rain just as we were getting in the car at noon. Had to make a stop in Preston then drove the hour long trip to Chester with a lot of rain. All in all it was an OK day with us getting to see a bit of the city centre and walked around the historic cathedral. The downside was that the 4:00pm Evensong had just begun a few minutes before we got there and they would not let folks into the nave (sanctuary) during the service. That was really a shame because we could slightly hear the beautiful organ and choir but couldn’t participate in the ceremony that was honoring the Queen’s official 90th birthday today. We were supposed to be able to go get into see the nave at 5:00pm but the service ran over and they were no longer letting visitors in. Oh well.
Got back home and had pizza in for dinner.
