“The bluest skies you’ve ever seen are in Seattle”… hmmmm, maybe not!

Photos coming soon.  😉

Saturday

After my VERY typical late night of packing for a trip on Friday night I finally got into bed about 1:30AM. Of course, by then I was wide awake and not able to sleep. I lay there thinking of the trip and wondering if I had everything I would want or need. In the end I think I got about 45 minutes sleep before I had to get up at 4:45am. I was also awake concerned that I would not wake up in time. Contacted Uber for the first time and he arrived in seven minutes! Got to the airport about 5:45. The fare was only $14.70 as opposed to the Mears Taxi that I had to take from the airport home last year that was $40! Was really lucky that there was only one person in front of me for curbside check-in. WOW was I lucky, because inside the queue for the Delta counter had to have at least 100 people in it. Unless they were flying international, I don’t know why they didn’t use curbside.

Grabbed some breakfast from Starbucks and it was soon time to board. Had a great seat in Economy Comfort where I had no seat in front of me and I could completely stretch out my legs. YEA! I watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 which I thought was laugh out loud funny! I also think I grabbed about an hour or so of nap time. The flight To Seattle was to be 5.5 hours and we ended up arriving early! My bag was about the fifth one off the belt! Great start to my trip! J I had been told to take the Light Rail from the airport into Seattle. This was a great idea but it was about a mile walk through the terminals and parking garages schlepping my medium size suit case and wearing my laptop backpack to get to the train stop. The bonus here was that it was only $3.00 to get to the city where cabs were in the $40 range. At the West Lake Center stop I then took the monorail the very short length, maybe a mile, to the Space Needle. That is such a beautiful structure. It was about a mile walk from there to the hotel! Although the skies were gorgeous while flying above the cloud cover, it was pretty dreary on the ground. Who cares… the temp was in the low 70’s and it was dry. That temperature is so nice compared to the boiling heat we’ve been having at home.

As I neared the hotel I saw Derek waving at me and we had a nice, fun chat. Checked in at the Four Points Sheraton and took a much needed two hour nap! Went to the bar and began making friends with other show listeners (www.derekandromaine.com ) . My cabin mate, Alan, from Saratoga Springs, NY, arrived around 6:30. Hung with friends until time for the gathering at the bar, CC Attles, on Capitol Hill at 9:00. Nice, friendly bar. Met Romaine there for the first time. Pretty worn out by 11:00 which was 2:00am ET and went back to the hotel where we both conked out before midnight.

Sunday

Up at 8:00, breakfast at the hotel, a jaunt to the store around the corner then shuttle to the ship at 11:30. Smooth security and easy check-in at Pier 66 for Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pearl. Group gatherings, muster drill, a fun Sail Away party, then dinner and have been meeting lots of great people from all over the country and even CanAmerica, 😉 . Las Vegas, LA, Portland, Oregon, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Texas, Florida, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, South Carolina, Seattle, Boston, Toronto.

It’s now pretty much bedtime (2:00am ET). YAWN.
