Juneau what the capital of Alaska is?
30 August 2016 – Tuesday
Juneau, Alaska – Capital City
Breakfast with Rosie and Therese. DNR had a Listener Roundtable that was nice with a few listeners answering questions posed by Romaine about the new show and the cruise experience. It was fun and heartwarming to hear sentiments by those at the round table and in the room.
We arrived at the port in Juneau around 1:00PM. We set off for our first day of excursions around 2:30. Alan, my cabin mate, and I did the Mendenhall Glacier trip and Whale Watching Expedition. Both were very nice. It was surprising how warm it was at the glacier where the sun came out. It felt like low 70’s. I had to take off my hoodie because I was too warm. We got on the boat for the whale watching around 5:00 and it was still extremely balmy weather as we began our trip. About 7:00pm the sun was going down and it was really getting cold. It was in the mid 50’s and very windy. They were good excursions. The glacier and Nugget Falls is very beautiful. The glacier has a beautiful blue color as you look into its crevices from the distance. On the boat we saw bits and pieces of probably 5-6 whales but none completely breached the surface. The ladies we had dinner with tonight said they saw one breach on their trip. I was so envious.
It was a long day and I’m really tired again. Heading to bed at 11:00. Nighty night!
