Malaysia – How are ya? 2017

6 July 2017 – Thursday

Two beautiful weeks in Thailand now off to Malaysia for the first time for a few days! Traveling by myself now. Hoping to meetup with a friend in KL.

We were having breakfast in the condo this morning when Wat thought he heard a parade!!! I thought he was hallucinating. There’s a lot of construction on the block so I thought that was the thumping sound. ? We went out on the balcony and saw this from the school a few doors down. No idea what was the occasion but cute anyway!

Wow! I’m in a long queue for my flight which leaves at 12 it’s only 1035 now but they put up a sign saying Kuala Lumpur and I went with them and got ahead of a bunch of people so thank you!!!!

This is definitely a first… I’m in the exit row and out of twelve seats there is only me!!!

Another first… 15mins before landing, they announce that Malaysia requires the plane be fumigated before disembarkation. They add, it’s approved by WHO and nontoxic but we should cover our mouth and nose! For real?!?! ? SO, the FA walks down the aisle spraying what appears to be a fogger above our heads. If I wasn’t covering my mouth and nose with a Kleenex, I’d have taken a pic!!! Ya know… it must be toxic to bugs or why use it?! Hmmmm. ?

Here’s the view from my B&B in KL! The twin Petronas Towers and the KL Tower! I’m sitting on the 4th floor balcony feeling nauseous just looking at them but the goal is to see them while I’m here!

7 July 2017 – Friday

The view from my balcony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!

With new friend Kareem who is showing me around Melaka. He’s a friend of my B&B host, Will, and does tour guiding. ?

8 July 2017 –  Saturday

This is so crazy. I’m so happy to see Diane Van Toorn Gonzalez. We haven’t seen each other in something like seven years! I was boarding my plane from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur when Diane messaged that she would be here Saturday/today!!

9 July 2017 – Sunday

It’s been a great Sunday in KL! Did a walk-in to a very highly recommended Chinese Meds Chiropractor. (My lower back has been achey off and on for months.) He was excellent. As another example of Asian hospitality, he did not charge for the massage and adjustment. He put on a large herbal treatment bandage on my lower back that I leave on till morning and suggested I buy another for ~$10. The kindness is amazing. I decided to buy four of the treatments to use on the rest of my trip and the long flight home. I did a four hour tour with on/off walking and felt so much better. Thank you Erik and team at Osteo Care, wish you were a bit closer to Orlando!!!

It was so amazing meeting up with my good friend Diane as we both happened to be in KL the same weekend. I was invited to tour the city with her group today. They’re all heading to Borneo and Indonesia tomorrow to see orangutans. I head to the Philippines tomorrow/Monday. — The twin towers are amazing architecture but made me very queasy on the 44th floor bridge and 86th floor observation level. — Thanks Diane and everybody for taking me along today.
