Back to Lancashire for a couple more days.
17 June 2016, Friday
Took the coach with all my “Golden Age” friends from Scarborough to Blackburn, Lancashire. It should have been a four hour trip that ended up being about six due to rain and road works. The highlight was that the driver was required to do a 45 minute rest stop so we, the passengers, not the driver, got to go to the pub in quaint little Skipton! It gave me a chance to buy one of my hotel table mates a pint! 🙂  Finally made it back to Blackburn to stay at Mark and Khoa’s again. They have been the kindest hosts. We had some very nice times together and it was so hospitable of them to allow me to use their place as the hub for my time in NW England.

Khoa and I took the bus for a day trip to Clitheroe. It was a beautiful day in this small town of 15,000. One of the highlights is the Norman Castle ruins estimated from the 12th Century! We had a great walk around the ruins and in the park surrounding it. The town is very quaint and we had a great time. Had lunch in a very nice bistro.
Back home for a lovely bangers and mash dinner (bangers = sausages from the butcher) and a nice quiet last evening with my friends.
